Lottomatica Foundation, which embodies the social commitment of the Lottomatica Group, is an independent, non-profit organization active in the fields of healthcare, social inclusion, education, and legality. For the second consecutive year, the Foundation is renewing its collaboration with Peter Pan ODV, an organization that for over thirty years has been welcoming and supporting the families of children with cancer throughout their entire treatment journey.
The renewal supports an integrated care model that combines clinical treatment with the work of a multidisciplinary team, peer support, volunteering, and a network of collaborations with healthcare facilities, institutions, and Third Sector organizations. The goal is to address the social, economic, and relational needs that accompany pediatric oncology.
A model integrating clinical care and family support
For more than thirty years, Peter Pan ODV has promoted comprehensive care for the entire family unit, based on the belief that a child's oncological illness generates needs that extend far beyond the medical dimension.
In 2025, the association welcomed and supported 151 families, providing over 1,000 hours of psychological support for adults and children, more than 3,000 solidarity shuttle trips, and 123 educational, recreational, and socialization activities, thanks to the dedication of over 240 volunteers and a total of 21,644 hours of volunteer work.
The data behind the renewal: social isolation and new family needs
The renewal of this support is grounded in evidence derived from the First Report on the Care Condition of Pediatric and Adolescent Oncology Patients – 2025, promoted by FAVO. According to qualitative interviews conducted by Peter Pan ODV, nearly seven out of ten parents reported experiencing social isolation during their child's treatment journey, often due to the necessity of relocating far away from their network of relationships, work, and loved ones. "Supporting Peter Pan ODV for the second consecutive year means renewing our commitment to a care and hospitality model that places the entire family unit at the center during their most difficult moments. Lottomatica Foundation has chosen to confirm its support for this project precisely because of the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary model capable of responding to needs that go beyond the medical dimension," stated Chiara Pomarici, General Secretary of Lottomatica Foundation.
A commitment aligned with the Lottomatica Group’s sustainability strategy
The collaboration with Peter Pan ODV is part of a broader journey through which Lottomatica Foundation, acting as the Group's vehicle for social give-back, promotes high-impact initiatives in the healthcare and social inclusion sectors. Following the first year of collaboration launched in 2025, this project confirms the continuity of the Group’s commitment to care models capable of accompanying patients and their families well beyond clinical treatment.
