Lottomatica considers the promotion of responsible gaming to be fundamental to the construction of a sustainable business strategy, and therefore requires all of its operators in closest contact with consumers to undergo adequate educational and training activities.
To this end, in collaboration with the recently inaugurated “Integrated Psychiatric Centre for Research, Treatment and Prevention of Addictions” (CePID), which arose from the partnership between Agostino Gemelli University Polyclinic Foundation IRCCS and the Lottomatica Foundation, the Group has launched a structured training programme for its nationwide network of over 6,000 specialised outlets.
This “Punto Gioco Intelligente” course was conducted by specialised medical personnel, and aims to facilitate the recognition, prevention and treatment of gambling disorder, with both a theoretical and practical approach, in order to allow the gaming hall operators to intervene in the most effective way when faced with potentially risky situations.
The “Punto Gioco Intelligente” course consists of three parts: the first provides an overview of pathological addiction phenomena as a whole and their dissemination; the second deals with the specific topic of Gambling Disorder as a clinical pathology, analysing the most common misconception and cognitive distortions related to gaming; finally, the third examines the main behavioural factors, and provides a series of practical suggestions on how to approach potentially risky situations.
The “Punto Gioco Intelligente” course is one of the foundational projects of Lottomatica’s Responsible Gaming Programme: the strategic action plan established by the Group to promote a legal and conscientious gaming model, while at the same time ensuring the protection of both consumers and minors, through initiatives dedicated to staff training, player awareness, and the mitigation of the impacts of problematic gaming behaviour, complete with studies and research on responsible gaming issues.
Lottomatica is committed to ensuring that attention to responsible gaming is always an integral part of its daily operations. For this reason, in recent weeks the company established a dedicated Responsible Gaming Committee as part of its governance structure, which consists of representatives from all the corporate departments, and is focused on the concrete implementation and continuous improvement of the Responsible Gaming Programme, in accordance with the Group’s broader Sustainability Plan.
