Pubblicato il: 18 marzo 2024

The group's strategy, as the leading Italian operator in the public gaming sector and among the main players in Europe, is based on three fundamental pillars: responsibility, people and communities and environment.

•          Extension of responsible gaming training, after the direct management network, also to indirectly managed outlets and internal staff
•          Achievement of G4 certification (Global Gambling Guidance Group) for all the group online platforms
•          Attainment of UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification for gender equality
•          20% increase in the number of employees compared to 2022
•          106% growth in the number of new hires in the biennium
•          22,241 hours of training delivered, with an annual increase of 149%
•          100% of the company's directly managed outlets supplied with certified green energy
•          92% of the paper used is recycled.
•          82% of suppliers are selected and evaluated based on ESG criteria compliance
•          170% increase in contributions to social initiatives and projects in the biennium
•          Strengthening of corporate sustainability governance

The extension of responsible gaming training to the group's indirect points of sales and internal staff, the achievement of UNI/PdR 125 certification on gender equality, and the strengthening of corporate governance tasked with coordinating and overseeing all ESG activities, are just some of the results achieved by Lottomatica in 2023 in terms of sustainability, as indicated in the non-financial declaration published today within the group's annual report. A document that relies on several pillars – from legality to training, from prevention to safety, to diversity and inclusion, with an increasingly growing focus on reducing carbon footprint – all referencing keywords that constitute the essential compass of the group's activities, with precise results achieved and specific commitments already made for both the present and the future.
The statement represents the culmination of what the company has achieved and planned in terms of sustainability and confirms a strategy based on three fundamental pillars: responsibility, people, and community and environment. For each of these areas, the statement provides an update on the innovations of the past year, which for Lottomatica has been characterized by growth not only from a financial perspective but also in terms of sustainability, with a significant increase in projects and related investments in 2023.
Regarding responsibility, the group has continued to prioritize its commitment to training through the "Punto Gioco Intelligente" course, aimed at staff and its sales network, conducted in collaboration with CePID, the "Integrated Psychiatric Center for Research, Care, and Prevention of Addictions" born from the partnership between the Agostino Gemelli University Polyclinic Foundation IRCCS and the Lottomatica Foundation. After covering 100% of the directly managed network in 2022, in 2023 the company extended responsible gaming training to the network of indirectly managed points of sales and internal staff. Furthermore, all the group's online platforms have been certified for responsible gaming according to the standards of the Global Gambling Guidance Group (G4), an international organization of industry experts focused on promoting a responsible approach to the issue and reducing the harm caused by problematic gambling.
Regarding people, in 2023, Lottomatica achieved the UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification for gender equality, highlighting the group's commitment to creating an inclusive work environment where opportunities and professional recognition are accessible to everyone. This achievement demonstrates the company's adherence to quality standards and practices aimed at promoting gender equality in the workplace. Additionally, some specific data should be noted: the number of employees increased by 20% compared to 2022, while the number of new hires in the biennium grew by an impressive 106%. Overall, 22,241 training hours were delivered in 2023, representing a 149% annual increase.
Regarding the environment, another key front in Lottomatica's sustainability initiatives, the main guidelines of the group's strategy were further defined during 2023, and numerous initiatives were implemented accordingly. For instance, 100% of the company's directly managed venues are supplied with certified green energy, while 92% of the paper used is recycled. Furthermore, a significant 82% of suppliers are selected and evaluated based on compliance with ESG criteria through the use of an accredited third-party platform. The same commitment extends to the community, with a 170% increase in contributions to social initiatives and projects in the last biennium.
