A series of periodic book presentations aimed at exploring current political, economic, and social issues through discussions with authors and writers from different professional backgrounds. This is the goal of the “#PowerBook – knowledge is our strength” project, the new Lottomatica initiative that was officially launched with its first presentation event. A project dedicated exclusively to the group’s employees, who had the opportunity to attend the debate held at Lottomatica’s Rome headquarters in person, or else to watch it streaming on the company’s intranet.
The protagonist of the first event was Gianluca Giansante: a lecturer in Digital Communication and Institutional Reputation at LUISS Guido Carli University, political communicator and partner at the strategic consulting firm Comin & Partners, and author of the book entitled “Leadership. Theories, techniques, good practices and false myths” (Carocci editore), which had only been available in bookshops for a few weeks. The work addresses the topic of leadership from two different perspectives: the activity carried out at the service of the community, and the ability to have a positive impact on the world around us. Within the pages of his book, Giansante focuses on a range of extremely diverse historical figures who have shared these common characteristics, including Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, civil rights activist Rosa Parks, Italian President Sergio Mattarella, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, to name but a few.
The debate began with introductory remarks by Lottomatica’s Chief People Officer, Giuseppina Falcucci. “At Lottomatica, we believe strongly in this initiative, and we’re delighted to have launched it,” Falcucci commented, adding: “The project will cover topics ranging from politics to geopolitics, economics, culture, technology, and society, to name just a few. The debates will be held periodically throughout 2023, with the aim of bringing that which happens outside the company inside, acting as an open window to the outside world within Lottomatica itself.”
“It was a nice opportunity for discussion and in-depth analysis, which I hope will be useful and stimulating for all the participants,” commented Giansante, who then shifted the focus to his book: “The scientific studies and experiences of great leaders throughout history have shown that leadership is a collective, collaborative, and altruistic process. Contrary to popular belief, this is a widespread phenomenon with many leaders at the workplace, not just the boss. This book is intended to dispel certain common misconceptions on the subject.”
