Sport Integrity and Responsible Gaming: the new partnership between Lottomatica and the International Olympic Committee (IOC)

Pubblicato il: 03 ottobre 2025

In recent weeks, a collaboration has been launched between the Lottomatica Group and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with the goal of strengthening the protection of sport integrity.

Lottomatica’s participation in the IBIS (Integrity Betting Intelligence System) represents a further step in promoting transparent, safe, and responsible gaming. It is a tangible demonstration of the company’s long-standing commitment in Italy and abroad, now reinforced across borders through this international network.

Integrity in sport: tackling match-fixing
Today, safeguarding sport integrity is a global priority, driven by the need to prevent competition manipulation. Commonly known as match-fixing, this phenomenon occurs when the outcome of a competition is deliberately altered to gain an undue economic or sporting advantage.
Such incidents, recorded even during major international events, not only undermine the credibility of sport but also erode the trust of athletes, fans, and communities. This is why institutions and industry players are constantly working together to prevent and counteract these risks.

The agreement with the IOC and adherence to IBIS
Within this context lies the partnership between Lottomatica and the IOC.
Through a Cooperation Agreement, the Lottomatica Group – with its brands Lottomatica, Better, Goldbet, Planetwin365, Betflag, and Totosì – has joined IBIS, the platform developed and managed by the International Olympic Committee to monitor and prevent potential manipulation.

Specifically, the agreement provides for:

  • proactive information sharing (when a suspicion is identified) as well as reactive sharing (upon partner request);
  • cooperation to identify and report cases of suspicious betting, corruption, insider information, or non-cooperation;
  • full compliance with data protection regulations, including GDPR.

Operational since 2014 and already in use at all major Olympic Movement events, the IBIS platform is today one of the most effective and sophisticated international tools for safeguarding sport integrity.

Lottomatica: between public gaming and shared responsibility
The issue of sport integrity is closely linked to that of public gaming: a regulated and transparent sector ensures consumer protection and safeguards communities.
When properly regulated, sports betting can enhance sport, engage fans, and support social initiatives. If instead left in illegality or without regulation, it exposes competitions to distortive phenomena such as result manipulation.

In this context, promoting responsible gaming in Italy means not only ensuring sport integrity, but also providing prevention and information tools, reducing the risks of problem gambling, and protecting the most vulnerable. The collaboration with the IOC goes precisely in this direction, strengthening a sustainable model where innovation, social responsibility, and international cooperation are integral to the sector.

Lottomatica’s commitment to sport and communities
The partnership with the IOC is part of a broader path through which Lottomatica promotes sustainable practices in public gaming, from technological innovation to social cohesion projects.
This commitment is also reflected in the Group’s support for initiatives such as Race for the Cure and the Inclusive Cup, the football tournament that unites sport and inclusion — projects that highlight the Group’s attention to community needs.

International dialogue on issues such as the fight against sport manipulation and the development of shared strategies helps strengthen the sector’s ability to generate value for communities, fostering transparency and trust.
