To this end, it promotes projectssupports realities and enhances initiatives aimed at achieving, in particular, four main objectives:

  • creating opportunity
  • social restitution
  • supporting local communities
  • scientific research

Among the initiatives carried out by the foundation, there is the collaboration with Gemelli University Hospital Foundation IRCCS, which led to the birth of CEPID, the new Integrated psychiatric center of research, treatment and prevention for addiction.

The center is a state-of-the-art facility, equipped with highly qualified personnel and specialized equipment, in which citizens can turn to for assistance and support. CEPID was constituted and made operational within the Complex Operative Unit of Clinical and Emergency Psychiatry of the Gemelli University Hospital, directed by Prof. Gabriele Sani, and coordinated by Dr. Marco Di Nicola.

The center aims to develop clinical and research activities focused on preventioncontrast and treatment of pathological addiction disorders

In this sense, it aims to contribute to a greater knowledge of these phenomena from an epidemiological point of view, to the optimization of diagnosis and treatment pathways and, the improvement of socio-educational interventions.

The partnership with Gemelli University Hospital Foundation IRCCS includes also the project called 'Punto Gioco Intelligente', an educational and training programme designed to increase awareness among sales network personnel of Lottomatica Group.

The Lottomatica Foundation stands out, indeed, for its constant commitment to support the community, promote social projects, and contribute to research initiatives, discussions, and in-depth exploration through institutional partnerships, scholarships, and training programs.

In this regard, a collaboration was initiated in 2023 with the European University of Rome through the research-intervention project titled "Countering discrimination by promoting social cohesion. A psycho-socio-educational intervention for the upper secondary school." The project aims to promote social integration and counteract ethnic discriminations within Italian upper secondary schools.

And, furthermore, the project titled "Restart: let’s take back the future!" - promoted by the Lottomatica Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and in partnership with ELIS, a non-profit association specializing in the training and employment of those who are socially and economically disadvantaged. The project aims to facilitate the social reintegration of inmates through key tools such as education and employment.

Among the initiatives undertaken by the Lottomatica Foundation is also the "Fight like a girl" project, conducted in collaboration with Fijlkam (the Italian Federation of Judo Wrestling Karate Martial Arts). This project aims to promote female sports participation in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the country, particularly in the South of Italy. In this context, Fijlkam is organizing free judo and karate courses dedicated to female students in five areas of the country: Naples and Casal di Principe in Campania, Taranto in Puglia, Gela in Sicily, and Lamezia Terme in Calabria. During the project presentation in June 2023, the report produced by Censis on the theme "Women, Work, and Sports in Italy" was also discussed, providing a detailed overview of the current situation in our country.

Moreover, concerning research and study activities, the Lottomatica Foundation has initiated a collaboration with "Percorsi di secondo welfare", a research and information laboratory at the University of Milan specializing in sustainability issues. Within this collaboration, reports titled "Italians and Climate Change” and "Corporate foundation, social sustainability and young people” have been published.
